Film + Video Scoring
EverTrue Semi-Permanent Makeup Salon:
Project brief: Energetic electronic music score for a makeup salon video.
Work I did: music composer, producer, arranger.
The Longest Moment You’re Not Here
Project brief: Short film by Khavn dela Cruz using video taken at the height of a tropical storm. Piano and vocals were already composed and recorded to a click track by Khavn. So all I had to do was edit it together and create arrangements that would feature the strongest musical themes from the recordings.
Work I did: Co-composer, arranger, musical editor.
Puwang
Project brief: Short film by Isabelle Matutina. The drama needed a musical theme and several underscoring moments.
Work I did: Composer, sound design, arranger, performer.
Nykto
Project brief: Short film by Elvert de la Cruz Banares. The experimental film needed music. I was given the film’s theme and structure and allowed to run free with the only musical peg being Peter Gabriel’s world music soundtracks.
Work I did: Composer, remixer, performer, arranger.

Hi There:
I came across your website while conducting a search of Filipino folk music on Google. Very cool! Part-time Student-composer here studying at CSU East Bay in Hayward working towards establishing an academic career while trying to build a corpus of works based on Filipino and Filipino-American source material among other things. Along these lines, I have composed a concertante work for marimba and mixed ensemble called “bulacan_polymorphic, op. 2” which is based upon a folk melody from Bulacan province, as well as a string quartet movement entitled “Jota Ilongguena” that uses a folk dance melody from Ilonggo. Have lots of idea and thought I’d say hello! My soundcloud is http://soundcloud.com/andresrluz. Feel free to check these tracks out!
Thanks!
Andres
Thanks for stopping by, Andres! I followed you on Soundcloud and am intrigued by your compositions. I do believe folk music is the one way to differentiate Filipino music from the rest of the world’s. After all we have a huge body of work to draw inspiration from. And no one else seems to be doing it. Loving “Bulacan Polymorphic Op.2.” Keep up the good work!
