Madlangkanta is five tracks that combine ethnic instrument samples, Philippine tribal folksong structures, modern beats, and electronic arrangements. Think ethnic electronica, or better yet, ethnotronica. It’s a mix of ancient and modern, urban and rural, organic and electronic. And the music calls to mind images of both lush countryside and gritty cityscapes. It’s the perfect soundtrack for chilling out on the roof deck. Or planting rice in the paddies.

The EP was released in 2006 under my QED Records netlabel.

About the Title

“Madlangkanta” literally means “song of the crowd” in Filipino, referring to the folk song origin of some of the melodies and song structures used in this album.
